Welcome to 8th Grade Math and GA Studies
I am so excited to welcome you to an incredible school year ahead. This year, I have the unique privilege of wearing two different hats: one as your Math teacher and the other as your Georgia Studies teacher.
While these two subjects might seem worlds apart, they actually share the exact same goal: solving problems and understanding the world around us.
🔢 In Math Class...
We aren't just memorizing formulas or staring at worksheets. We are training our brains to be master problem-solvers. Math is a universal language, and this year we will learn how to break down complex problems, think logically, and see patterns in everyday life. My promise to you: there is no such thing as a "math person"—everyone can succeed in this room with a little curiosity and persistence!
🏛️ In Georgia Studies...
We are stepping into a time machine. From the deep history of the Georgian culture to the complex geography, booming economics, and modern politics of our home state, we will discover how Georgia helped shaped the nation. We will explore the "why" behind the history and connect the past directly to the world you see outside your window today.
🌟 What You Can Expect in My Room:
-
A Safe Space to Fail Forward: Mistakes are just data. They tell us what to try next, whether we are balancing an equation or analyzing a historical turning point.
-
Hands-On Learning: Expect interactive timelines, real-world math challenges, debates, and collaborative projects.
-
High Expectations & High Support: I will challenge you to do your absolute best, but I will be right there beside you providing the tools you need to get there.
Let’s make this an unforgettable year of growth, discovery, and breakthrough moments. Get ready to crunch some numbers and make some history!
Let's have a great year!
