Dear Parents,
In an effort to keep you informed, we are notifying you that a student was found with a knife on campus, though no threats were made.
The knife was discovered following an investigation by Columbia County School District Police, after a report was made to school administrators. The student is being held accountable according to the code of conduct and has been criminally charged. Further investigation revealed that the knife was not shown to other students and the school day was not interrupted. Operations continued as normal.
Safety of students and staff is a top priority, so we felt it was best to notify you. Parents, please continue to speak with your children about items that are not appropriate to bring to school. Any suspicious activity should be reported to a school administrator, a teacher or the Columbia County School District Police. Working together, we can continue to provide a safe, positive environment for students and staff.
