Welcome!
Welcome to Harlem Middle School! I am excited that you are part of the Bulldog Family this year!
Class Expectations
I truly believe the most important thing we can do is RESPECT one another. A place of respect allows each person to obtain and access the information and tools necessary for success.
B - Be Responsible
A - Achieve Expectations
R - Respectful and Kind
K - Keep it Positive
- Cell Phones are to be powered off and kept in bookbags.
- Bookbags and water bottles are to be kept in the entry area to the classroom.
- NO food or drink is permitted in the classroom/computer lab.
Course Overviews
READING INTERVENTION: This is a year-long course where students will be using the HMHRead180 program to refine their reading skills. We will complete whole group, small group, and individual activities using the modules in the HMH Read180 program. Read180 is a research-based, data-driven reading intervention program adopted by the school district for the 2024-25 school year. There are direct instruction and computer instruction components to the program.
LANG ENRICHMENT: This is a nine-week long course where students will complete activities and assignments to strengthen their skills as a writer. Students will work on the GSE writing standards, supplementing the grade level ELA classroom instruction.
Background Information
I grew up in the Martinez area and graduated from Evans High School. My husband (a Harlem graduate) and I moved to Harlem when we married 25 years ago, and we love it here. Our son Elijah is a senior at Harlem High School and a dual enrolled freshman at Augusta Tech. We have a dog named Mouse and a backyard full of chickens. When we are not working, I enjoy spending time with family in the mountains, listening to 90's country music, and reading.
